Thank you, Jan Ma. Both of these ideas have been discussed for making the most possible use of the limited space we have. We're looking forward to seeing the design that Jack comes up with!

Is it possible to build some storage space into the stairs? Maybe drawers in the treads (as is done in tiny homes) or a small closet underneath to store suitcases or hang clothes. This is making the design and building of the stairs complicated but would help the guests immensely. Thanks you for your consideration.

Thank you, Jack Platt from Houston, for working on a design for the steps! Yesterday a lot of thought went into how to do this the right way, including moving the beds around, measuring, testing, and envisioning the safety of what would be built. Jack went away with a few rough sketches and a lot of inspiration, and he will come back with some final drawings, a materials list, and a prototype for us to test. Then he will create a template so that others can cut the wood and assemble the stairs even when he's not available. It's so awesome to have a dedicated Texas kriyavan like Jack supporting our new ashram. (There's no photo of Jack working on the stair project, but he also installed a new piece of metal siding over a gaping hole in the barn, which he's doing in this photo. Thanks for that, too, Jack!)
