Dear Divine Ones,
Cyclone Fani, one of the strongest storms to strike India in the last 20 years, made landfall early Friday morning at Puri; pummeling the Northeast Coast. While rescue and recovery crews are still accessing the damage, there are at least 28 known deaths and extensive damage to houses and buildings in Puri.
The toll on human lives could have been much worse had the government not opened more than 850 shelters to nearly 1 million people who were living in at-risk areas.
Elsewhere, at the Hariharananda Gurukulam in Balaghai, while all the residents are safe, almost all the trees have been uprooted and there is significant loss and damage to the property (not less than $250,000).
A video has been put together with images showing some of the damage that has occurred both at Hariharananda Gurukulam and Balashram. To view it you can click this link: https://youtu.be/vw4byKT8M04
