Meet Shanti, the Newest Member of Our Divine Family

Today, on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, we welcomed a new member into our divine family. She is a beautiful registered Brahman heifer, to whom Guruji gave the name Shanti (meaning Peace or Peacefulness).

Shanti is happily acquainting herself with her new home and her new family. We all are delighted to have her as part of the Go Navaratri celebration starting tomorrow!

Goshala (Cow Shed) for Rishi

All are delighted to know that Rishi is getting a new home! A project is underway to build a second goshala (cow shed), intended to replace the temporary shelter that was built to protect Rishi last winter.

We are blessed to have Ben Baba here for some weeks to get this project planned and underway!

Guruji has given the name: Siddhi

It’s a girl!

At 9:28 AM on June 19th, 2018, Karuna gave birth to a little heifer (female) calf. Both are happy and in good health after a trip to the local veterinarian was required to bring the baby out. We are so blessed to be in the company of such divine beings. They are beautiful, and it is adorable and heart-warming to watch the love of the mother and child for one another.

Still Waiting and Watching for Karuna’s Baby

After a restless night last night, today Karuna got some rest. It doesn’t look like she’s “resting comfortably” however. The extra weight and size make it more and more difficult for her to lie down or even to walk. The calf is moving around, kicking, and responding to singing and chanting. What a blessing to have this beautiful experience here at our ashram. 🙂

Delivery of Karuna’s Calf Drawing Near

Our Karuna is looking and acting more and more like a loving and divine mother. She is so beautiful. Today we are seeing subtle changes that indicate the calf will soon arrive. All ashram residents are keeping a close watch over her and giving her lots of attention. She is really enjoying it. We will post updates as frequently as possible, as we know that there are many loving supporters out there who are anxiously awaiting news of the birth. Jai Guru.

The magnificent and deeply moving Go Navaratri celebration in India (October 20-28, 2017) inspired us to plan a similar event in 2018 for cow-lovers in the USA. You will be equally inspired if you join us for the Go Navaratri celebration in Texas, November 8-17, 2018.

Paramahamsa Prajnanananda presided over the nine-day program in India dedicated to the holy cows. Many events took place, including deeply moving go seva opportunities, the Surabhi Maha Yajna (a Vedic fire ceremony that gives new strength and energy to protect cattle), the Surabhi Mantra Sadhana (chanting the Surabhi mantra for peace in the world), seminars and symposia regarding the benefits of indigenous cattle populations for health and holistic life, presentations about natural organic farming, and presentations about the cow and Ayurveda. Satsangas were led by reputed monks of India, and there were cultural programs and exhibitions.

Save the dates (November 8-17, 2018) now, and check back regularly for updates and registration information over the next few months. The annual Texas Retreat will also be a part of this very auspicious event.
