First Annual Empty Bowls Event

On November 2, 2018, the Temple of Compassion ashram was the primary sponsor of a community event in the city of Brenham, near the ashram, to support the local food bank.

Thanks to the heroic efforts of kriyavans Rosella Saltarelli (Austin, TX) and Liz Bumpus (Sarasota, FL), and the loving support of many kriyavans from Texas and other states, the Empty Bowls Brenham event was a success, and is being praised by many in the local community. The project raised about $3000 for the Brazos Valley Food Bank, which translates into an amazing 15,000 meals for those with “food insecurity” in Washington County.
